The Plenary Session of Massive Earth Summit opened with a big question. Can Capital and Deep-Science align to save the world?

And to discuss a question of such high importance, the Summit had on stage India’s leading scientist, Professor K. VijayRaghvan, who is the Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt of India and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder, Paytm and UN Environment Patron for Clean Air. The Session was chaired by Shailesh Vickram Singh.

The Session dwelt upon the core issue that minimal capital has been directed towards problems that affect maximum population. The irony of our times is that best of brains and money is solving how to increase the click-through rate of digital ads while 9 out of 10 people on earth breathe polluted air.

Why has technology not been able to keep pace with the rising pollution levels? How can the incentive systems be aligned to ensure that the problems related to clean air, food, water, and energy are solved? What is preventing breakthrough innovation to provide clean and affordable power?

What are the ways in which Government is thinking to promote deep-science in these sectors? What are the plans in terms of budget and targets?

The challenges that humanity faces are unprecedented and requires immense work in a way that is sustainable, how can this be made possible?

These and many other questions were explored during the Session. Stay tuned for a video update on this.
